Anthropic launches Claude 3.5 Sonnet, is it better than ChatGPT4o or Gemini?

Anthropic yesterday launched Claude 3.5 Sonnet, the latest addition to their Claude 3 family of AI models. This new model is also immediately available to all Claude users (including those using the free version) and, according to the company, it is as good and even better than OpenAI's GPT-4o or Google's Gemini for most tasks.

Overview of improvements

  • A much more natural writing style.
  • Better handling of multi-step processes.
  • Advanced interpretation of graphs and charts.
  • More accurate transcription of text from images.
  • Can write and translate code much better.

New Artifacts feature

Anthropic also introduces Artifacts, a new feature that improves interaction with Claude:

  • Users can see and edit the results of their Claude requests directly within the app.
  • Ability to edit content directly in the Claude app.
  • With this feature, it becomes more of a versatile AI assistant than a "simple" chatbot.

This launch again shows how fast AI development is moving. In March, Anthropic launched Claude 3 Opus, which was equivalent to GPT-4 and Gemini 1.0. Now a few months later, they are already taking another big step forward. The competition is likely to follow soon with new updates.
